Complication

Complication

A Poem by Neurosis

Complication,
it's a thing I want to avoid
The brain has created a structure
in my mind
A layout of steps I must take
tiptoe through to avoid making waves
But the heart and body don't care
and passion cries out
Wanting to cause ripples in the serene water
as that structure falls down
It can't stand to watch me sit
and pretend to be happy
so unsatisfied with it

I'd rather be alone than lie to myself for a second
that's what I once said
About time that I did it
A life of dissatisfaction
is what I fear,
but that's exactly where I'm headed
if I don't make the change here
It's time to throw caution to the wind
and ignore the scary situations
of the what if
