Early Afternoon

Early Afternoon

A Poem by Neurosis

I lay here unmoved
The gloominess of an early afternoon
Peers through the window and across the bed
The air is cool and comfortable
With the low hum of a fan
I try my best
Not to dwell on the feelings that had been presented
A sutble cry, a last goodbye,
Set the tone for that one night
Where I sat and I stared
At the small glowing box
Alone in my chair
Pushing back the thoughts that I once could not stop

I glanced at the words I had last said
In them, their emotion never met
I lay here undisturbed
While my furry companion rolls and purrs
It's almost two, it's getting late
Time to get up
And start the day
