HoleA Poem by Sunset GirlEveryone digs holes sometimesThis hole’s so deep And narrow I wonder How you stay alive It looks Like there’s no air Down there
Yet you keep digging Deeper and deeper I feel one day I’ll go to look For you in the hole And won’t see you
I wish you’d come up Get some air See the sun Feel its warmth again Or at least Stop digging Digging deeper
You don’t have To dig deeper Dig the walls Make some steps Or even a ladder Tall enough To reach my hand
While you’ve dug I’ve watched you fade I’ve yelled to you Told you I’m here I’ll help We can figure this out
I heard you yell back But couldn’t Make out the words I saw you Start to get bigger I saw the hole Get wider
I can see your face again I can hear your words Hear you say You’re sorry Please keep coming You’re so close now
I can almost reach you You’re almost made it Doesn’t the sun feel nice Isn’t it warm
You’re almost there Don’t stop now Take my hand I’ll pull you out I have faith in you You can make it Out of this hole This hole you’ve dug
