Breaking Through

I'll take a crazy risk
One where I can physically get hurt
But then I have problems
Trusting the one I took the risk for.

How do I know
You really aren't a bad guy
How do I know
That I'm the only one?

I want to trust you
I want to believe in you
But heart of mine
Has built up a high wall

It's built that wall
So thick and tall
Emotions can't pass through
And my brain turns into a filter

But all your little things
Are starting to make a hole
And my brain won't let my heart forget
You just might be the one to break through.

I really like this poem. It is so true that, as time goes by, we build walls to protect ourselves...it takes the right person to start taking those bricks down and climb over.
