The Past Isn’t GoneA Poem by Sunset GirlThe past makes the present, It’s never really gone. Even the parts we wish to forget, They stay with us.
But what we don’t realize, Is how other people play a role too. We see and hear things, Life changing things that weren’t meant for us.
And as grow older, These memories start to make sense. The effect they had, The way they changed us.
Maybe it’s why someone is closed off, Or a little too open. Why they take extra cautions, Or why they take extra risks.
The past defines our present, In so many ways. Having the power to change our present, Sometimes mean overcoming our past. But the past still brought us, To our present. © 2012 Sunset GirlReviews
