I know you’re here

You’re physically here

Yet really

You’re miles away

That thing doesn’t leave your hand

Its’ overcome you

 

Take a step back

Look at the big picture

Do you like what you see?

Do you think your daughter

Likes what you see

 

Disconnected

Making excuses

Reasons, that while true

Are only excuses and reasons

 

You want to be ahead

Yet you’re going backwards

You care about everyone else

Can’t say “no” to anyone

Expect the person who needs you the most

 

And now look at you

Getting worse every day

Not caring like you should

You’re all she has

Don’t take that from her too

 

If you don’t stop now

You’re no good to no one

What do you see then?

 

Take a step back

Look at the big picture

Is this really what you want?

Who are you really helping?

 

I know I may not understand

But I know more

Than you might think

 

Please,

Stop and look

See everything and try

Try to be there today

So you have it tomorrow.

:: ah... such a powerful and poignant piece of poetry... so true and so full of empathy for one's birth-givers... it took me a long time to help them see how they were missing the point about them and me... i had to be very patient... and yet i had to be clear and honest in my communication... today, we have an understanding that is more real than it has ever been... and there is more peace now than ever before... :: what a beautiful heartsong you've written, sweet J. ...

sometimes we take on so much thinking it's for the best; when in reality it's not. What's the true price of doing more? Sometimes it's more than the benefit; and when a little girl is part of that cost, it's always too high.
I'm happy you have been able find that peace now, it's so important.

:: i was a part of the cost too... they were not able to protect me from certain types of abuse... they lived in a stupor... obsessed with doing more and more and more for their families before marriage... at one point, i thought we cannot mend and heal... but we did... i didn't give up until we did... and they began to listen to me at some point...
