Was a hard step
Hard to admit to myself
I wanted you to be wrong
Not just because
It meant I was right
But because
It means I was wrong

Wrong about him
Who he really is
Just like the others
Even if he was different
It was the right kind of different
I just even his type
Can be game players

Admitting you were right
Meant admitting I was wrong
Wrong about someone
Who I knew
Had already changed my life
And we don't like
To be wrong
About matters so deep

Saying you were right
Meant admitting I was wrong
I didn't want to be wrong this time
I so badly wanted
To be right

It's never easy when you're hurting to admit that you were warned. When something seemed so good, so right, that really you were just being played.

~ brilliantly insightful work, my precious friend... it's painful when we realize that we were wrong... and you're absolutely right when you say that 'admitting' it is the hardest part... ~ the fact of the matter is that anyone could be played by anyone at any time... it's a humbling experience... and when we wake up from it... it hurts like hell... it's the cost of realization i think... it's the price of knowledge... and though it's little consolation that we won't get played by the same person twice, at least that much of justice does happen... at least the 'getting played' part ends... ~ this is a beautiful piece of poetry... one that i'm sure anyone who reads would be able to relate to... this is one of the most important existential issues that most of us have faced at one point or another... it hurts like hell and so it's nice to share the hurt and feel a bit lighter... i feel a bit lighter after reading this piece... thank you for writing it...

Wow.. such a powerful, true and relatable message. we all need to admit when we are wrong. It's hard to though. I find we spend so much time blaming others for our problems ,and pointing fingers, we do not realize the 3 fingers pointing right back at us! aha. A lesson we all need to learn. Great poem! Thank you. The warning came from someone I never thought I could really trust, someone who I thought just wanted to see me look stupid, not actually care about. Admitting we're wrong is one of the hardest things to do.
