Broken Wings

Broken Wings

A Story by Nessie_AJ
"

Broken and helpless, a young girl is left behind tortured by her past w/ only the stars as her friends.

"
They told her she could be whatever she wanted, to reach for the sky.
Yet over time they clipped her wings, her dreams crumbling piece by piece.
Her hopes and fears built over time and erupted into thousands of twinkling stars.
They remained hauntingly beautiful and surrounded her every night lulling her to sleep.
Reminding her of what she would never be.
The days dragged on and the hours turned into weeks which melted into months.
She watched her friends fly away with their own beautiful wings while she felt a leash tighten around her body.
She dreaded the night for with it came the stars.

The evil ones destroyed her wings, leaving her no escape. She was stuck there forever.
Time went on. The seasons changed. Her room turned into a dungeon.
The girl couldn’t stand it anymore.
The stars shined for her. They watched out for her, but they reminded her of her past, a place she desperately wanted to escape.

Every light in the castle flickered off. She was cloaked in a deafening darkness.
The stars suddenly appeared, like comforting night lights in the night sky.
They called to her, beckoning her.
The girl couldn’t pull her eyes away from them and their love.
It was like she was in an unshakable trance.

The girl climbed her window, the cool, calming air making her feel at home again.
The stars had never glittered more than in that moment.
The girls’ family rattled the doorknob attempting to break down her self- made dungeon.
But it was too late.
With her eyes locked on the stars, the girl stood up on the window sill.
“Join us,” the stars coaxed, “You belong with us.”
The girl’s eyes fluttered shut as she spread her arms out and took that fateful leap.

The door to her room broke open and her family let our shrieks of panic and devastation.
Her crumpled body lay broken on the ground below them, but the wind carried her to the stars flooding the sky with her beauty.
The stars hugged the girl and welcomed her home as the girl’s family buried her into the ground, dropping her broken wings into the casket.

I think it is good and you obviously have talent although for me personally there are too many metaphorical lines involved to take it as a serious story.

This is amazingly well written.... really sad, but amazing! You write with a really great flow and nothing felt rushed or forced even though you put so much into a short story. I really am in love with this piece, please keep writing.
