The City that Never Sleeps

The City that Never Sleeps

A Poem by Nessie_AJ

The City that Never Sleeps

NYC

the people and lights

the places and heights

where life is everywhere

and everywhere is life

a place where culture thrives

and creatures hide

a land where skyscrapers transcend the skies

yellow taxis escort wide- eyed tourists

to see the place where dreams exist

Times Square at the heart of it all

full of the hustle and bustle

the restaurants, the malls

Carpe diem is a way of life

where actors go to make headlines

The New York Times is the god of news

which spin tall tales of winners and the people who lose

a place where buildings reach the heavens

and people pay their respects to 9/11

New York City is a magical land

which bestows a part of its kaleidoscopic hand

to the young girls who are way too deep

in love with "the city that never sleeps"
