Breaking Silence

Breaking Silence

A Poem by Vanessa Macanas

Here’s to tonight...

Here’s to the future

To all the things that will be missed

Friendships retired old and grown apart.

The feelings I hurt and your broken heart.

For this I’m sorry but we will never change

Stuck in our old ways

New ways in fact.

Please lets not repeat that.

The past...

Keep it there.

It is of no importance now.

Trials and tribulations

Mistakes

Only so much one can take

Or perhaps make.

Countless times maybe.

Apologetic

Sympathetic

Too much has been said in this awkward silence

As we turn to violence

To make peace in our mind

Because hiding is only temporary

A painful pleasure

One can only endure so much

If only it would last forever

Wishful thought

Nice poem. Your best flow was with the two words "Apologetic / Sympathetic." I didn't like how you changed the text for certain lines, it obstructed the flow for me. You also had a spelling mistake with "im" you need to capitalize the "I" and put an apostrophe between the letters. And your "Heres" and your "lets" are also missing apostrophes to signal a contraction of "here is" and "let us".

A very deep poem, it seems melancholy but at the same time almost blissful. It's beautifully written, the flow is nice as well as the rhyme scheme. Keep up the good writing! :)

A kind of chronicle of a troubled relationship... Neatly set out and telling it with a kind of painful truth...

'Too much has been said in this awkward silence'
'As we turn to violence'

... are the lines for me, ominous and intense. The whole poem is positive as it speaks of picking up pieces, going forward, hope. But it also suggests a jagged history.

well done, this poem is...wistful in a melancholic way. I identified with some of the wishes, and more often, the mistakes to regret.
again, well done :).

A poem with much emotion and internal thinking. We wish and hope for things lost too late. I believe today I would of held tighter to lovers. Said less words. Complain not at all. But never too late to keep wisdom. A deep poem. Wishful thinking can lead us to a better road. A excellent poem.
