Optimistic is a virtue

I wrote this for a friend. She may not know its for her, but it is.

“How can you be so optimistic in life when all of these terrible things are happening?”

Its because I’m optimistic.

Optimistic is a virtue

A way of life for some.

You have to understand something

I know the truth

Optimism is not truth

But it brings happiness

People need a little happiness in this sad, cruel world.

“Why have happiness from a lie?”

Why crush a person’s hope of something?

Why crush your own dream with reality?

We all know the truth in this world

The sad, mistaken truth that shreds any hope

You may never change

You may never have that someone special

But doesn’t it feel better if you tell yourself that you can?

“It doesn’t make me feel better. I don’t see the benefit from it.”

I can smile from my optimism

I can laugh from it

In general, I accept it

I accept everything that it is

It helps with all the goals

The realistic goal in life is already accomplished

The pessimistic goal in life is getting there

The optimistic goal?

No, far from accomplished.

“Then why care?”

Optimism is to give hope to people

Nothing is impossible

Impossible is only for pessimistic

Half way there is realistic

Who thinks that nothing good could ever happen?

Good is everywhere

You just have to open your eyes and look up!

You just have to be optimistic.

And I happen to be pessimistic about myself. :P Other people, I'm pretty optimistic about. But when it comes to me, that's all I can really be. (that rhymed lol). Cause for me and in my mind, looking at stuff and thinking I may deserve better or thinking that I'm better then I am is completely untrue. I see myself and my situations in the lighting that fits me perfectly.
