Coffee Shop

Coffee Shop

A Poem by Ness of Love
"

Coffee I guess. Or I know. But awww love. Can't forget it. Even if you want too.

"
This is how it happens again,
The lonely girl sitting in the coffee shop,
Sipping her coffee, thinking about the things that she didn’t want to think of.
But right now, thinking about the coffee,
How the freezing of her heart was being melted away from the warmth of her coffee.
Warmth, something she only knew when she had her precious coffee,
It was her escape from the world,
She was on a high when she slowly sipped it,
But would except the fall that came afterwards.
Of course this fall is different,
This fall comes from the thoughts,
Those thoughts that she hated but surely loved.
Coffee shop thoughts said always told to herself.
The coffee shop started to get empty,
Empty like her heart, slowly freezing back up again,
She knew that it was time,
Once a week, every week.
He walked into the coffee shop,
Like normal, ordering the same thing as always, nothing different,
As he sat down at his usual spot, she in hers too,  he looked at her, as she did to him,
‘Same old routine, he never gets tired of it, but I guess, nether do I.’
This game never gets old, neither does the feeling,
Not even the coffee can warm her heart again.
The pain that she was in, she never got tired of it,
But she should learn that this always happens each week,
She loved it though.
This is how it happens,
Always at the coffee shop.

To be honest, I thought you overused the word coffee for the first half of the poem. Every line had it and I thought it kind of disrupted the flow of the poem. But, I guess that's just my opinion and it's no big deal really. What I liked the most here is the story. It was good how you added all the emotions to a simple scene - a person waiting constantly for another while sipping coffee. You brought life to a very silent moment. Also, this is very relatable. :)) Overall, I think this one's a really nice poem. And if I add the fact that you wrote from your heart, this can be considered an amazing one. Good job. :)) Keep on expressing yourself. :)

This was good. I think every person has experiences like this, feeling hopeless for hoping, adoring from afar. I especially love the whimsical bleakness in the line, "Not even the coffee could warm her heart." I've certainly had similar notions. If I had to point out anything it would be that you used the word coffee five lines in a row, it was slightly distracting for me. Overall this is a great piece, and balances the dreariness and content of longing in a unique and likeable way. Keep up the good work :)

This was hauntinly(if this is a word..lol)eerie...wonderful to be inside of someone's mind who maybe very very lonely and unable to open up to another who is as it appears so much like them, and to do this week after week...I felt so empty after this...BRAVA...I am like this though..lol I probably would have run the poor thing outta the coffee shop because I would have been like...Hey how u doing..I'm from New Orleans and we talk to anyone...smile..So nice to collide with into you
