A Lovely Parasite

A Lovely Parasite

A Poem by Nery Loo

To witness you is to burn,
to touch you is to die,
to die because of you
would be the loveliest way to go.

To lust over someone
who could never love you
is a fate not wished upon your worst enemy,
but like the moth drawn to the flame,
my demise is sure.

overcome with an unbearable urge
to crawl on you and possess your eyes,
lips, your skin, mind and limbs
to become entwined in you hair and
 forever know your thoughts.

An Incessant urge to
breathe the same air you breathe,
share your hopes and desires
to belong to you.

My adulterous inclination
eating away at my core,
like a ravenous parasite
I'd never wish to be rid of.

This misery is my gift,
my curse, and my reason to be.
When you are gone I wonder,
 what will become of me?
