Depression

Depression

A Poem by Riley Papale

I'm never alone, he's always by my side.
He wont stray far, otherwise I'd get by.
He lives off my fear, my hate, my pain.
He especially loves my sadness. it's like a cool drink.
He squeezes my heart, and rips it apart.
If anyone tries to repair it, he'll just restart.
He finds a way to ruin the best of things, and makes me cry.
He's even ran me so far into the ground, to the point I want to die.
He grabs me with his talons, and doesn't let go.
He's my personal hell, my inner freak show.
This demon is real, but never seen.
His name is Depression, and he completely owns me.

I love this poem. I also know what it is like to live with depression. It is not fun. The emotion in this work is so raw. I love it. Thanks for sharing.
