Dance in the Sea

Dance in the Sea

A Poem by Shane William

I know in this sea of love,
We dance
And the ripples spread out
From the bottoms of our feet
Till the graceful lines
Surrender to the shore

From under the surface
We watched skipping stones
We observe the trees
Weep over the shallows

and ponder the sky above

Once upon a time
We left our cares
On dry land
We shed our clothes
And forgot all that we know
To float with the plant life
To inspire the sea
To be so blue

And at times
The current does grip us
So we fight
With granite underneath

our fingernails
Salt in our lungs
Our hearts begin to

filled with rust
And soon we know
That it's time to adjust

So We don't swim

We dance

This poem reflects a really interesting thought - dancing instead of swimming. I like the closing lines a lot. i might quibble about a few things like shore and banks being essentially the same thing making their juxtaposition a bit distracting, like teeth not laughing (even with artistic license). i like the idea of watching
skipping stones from under the surface. I wonder whether two people swimming in the sea would inspire it (the sea) rather than the other way around. Lots of good stuff here. Good going. :-)
