Seasons

Seasons

A Poem by Shane William

I am winter
I am an unfinished lyric
I am a the mental block
Preventing words like keys,
Chains, and locks
Of winter's ticks and tocks

I am spring
I am selfish,
Falling apart
Into a different word for death...
Love, it's said in be in our longest breaths
Caught by those kisses we crave.

And now

Now I am summer
I am the sun
Laid in rays
Bled across the sea,
To the open veranda
We cast our shadows
Against sandy footsteps
Like silhouettes
For unseen, our hearts true.

I am Autumn
I am a shed skin
I am the leaves falling
To bed the ground
I am a crisp thin air
Gnawing at the passage of time
And the wind breaking
Strumming melodies from chimes

And now, winter again
I'm an eternal slumber
I am the selfish
Sleeping, waking
Hearts of seasons
I am this unfinished stanza
I am this unfinished
unspoken word to the heart
