Poetess

Poetess

A Poem by Shane William
"

As it turns out, the whole muse thing really works.

"

She...
Breathing metaphor
Weaving imagery
Like moonlight
weeping with the night

   and I become the sun
   drowning in the sea

Her loves worn
 like a beaten
  battered coast
The white waves give her
weathered stones
She polishes to gems

And then I see her eyes
in the crisp lines of the 3rd stanza
As her heartbeat chases the meter

Once more,
   so does mine

You-
  You and your words
     Penned all over my body
So that I may taste the ink

Fill me with that true blue...
And leave me with
  that lingering question -
      Does anybody love you?

Beautifully written, and very relatable... The concept of this one is fantastic; reading another's words and finding the true essence of that person within them is quite a thing, I think. Too often, people read and do not absorb, but in some instances, the absorption is so deep that we fall in love with writing itself; a personification of sorts, where the poem becomes the rite of passage and the poet (or poetess) becomes the lover. I felt this way when I used to read Keats in college...I honestly thought I was in love with him, and Coleridge as well...lol

Let me say a thing or two about the imagery...fantastic and deliberate, as well as original and filled with burgeoning emotion. So, yeah, I enjoyed this one...

I see, you are getting the love bug lol.

Shane, this is the new you...I know the evolution in writing...this is outstanding...it exudes romance...and I respect a man that exudes that sensuality because they honor that in their real lives when taking a hand of a lady. Superb poetry, Shane.

Lol...I think that's a good thing. :)
This is so moving and hauntingly beautiful. I felt as though I were being taken some place else only to return in time to be asked the question 'does anybody love you?' A question that will most likely linger in my mind long after I click away from this page, as was the writers intention no doubt. Nonetheless I do adore this piece and I enjoyed the reading experience it provided, thank you :)
