Quietly Me

Quietly Me

A Poem by Shane William

I've been thinking of some secret of the universe
that I could let spill into your mind from mine
Or some wonder that might have your heart beat
in tempo with mine
--just for a second or two.

Each time I step out of this fog,
I have to re-enter my own orbit
I find it difficult, for some reason,
to just fall back into myself.
I hold on too tightly to what is definite
and lose the part of me that dreams
    --but only for a while.

I want to wonder like Pablo Neruda
    about the universe
        and ache for the answers.

There are so many thoughts
and wants to catch up on, dearest,
because there was such a lull in my being.
It's so strange to feel like a stranger
as you watch your life passing by
minute to hour to day to week...

and then, you tiptoe back into your self
so you can run from what you were.

I tiptoe back into myself so I can run from what I was

And now
--it's time for the world to unfold again...

I'm impressed by this one... You have such a maddeningly honest and emotional way of writing that I want to steal your words and savor them in some locked room. I love the nod to Neruda; such an amazing poet in his own right (studied a lot of him in college). Also love the feeling of sorrow blended so perfectly with the feelings of love and introspection. You are a true poet, my friend. I tip my hat to you!

Beautiful poetry...I'm sorry if cant say much more...there's nothing to critique but admire...I loved the contemplative element to this poem, as well...as a Poet, Writer, or Song Writers...we look into that place of solitude to reflect...WTF do I write next! Lol jk

Just reflect on our perspective...nicely fine, Shane. Love the Pablo Neruda reference.
