Expectations

Expectations

A Poem by Kati
"

My simple wishes.

"
Some say that at this age I'm supposed to care
That I'm supposed to do the expected
They want me to fit in
To smile, laugh, and win
They want me to be naive
They want me to go obey their decrees
As if they have some sort of pedigree

Some say that at this age I'm supposed to fall in love
That I'm supposed to want attention
They want me to have a heart
To blush, giggle, and still be smart
They want me to have romance
They want me to go be smitten
As if I'm some coy, soft kitten

But what about me?
How about what I think?

I say that at this age I'm supposed to be full of energy
That I'm supposed to want adventure
I want to live in a Wonderland
To fight, plot, and not be bland
I want to have fun
I want to go pull some stunts
Or maybe just maybe be me for once
