You Know Me

You Know Me

A Poem by Nelyn Salvaleon

I'm an honest liar.
When you ask if I'm okay,
I always say, "Yes."
But if you know me,
You know I love to use "antithesis."
My mouth says, "Yes," but my eyes say, "No."

I'm a wise fool.
When you make me a laughingstock,
I won't cry; I'll just say you're a wise guy.
But if you know me,
You know I love to use "paradox."
I say something, but it means nothing.

I'm a silent speaker.
When you talk to me,
You oftentimes won't hear me saying a word.
But if you know me,
You know I love to use "oxymoron."
My silence sounds annoying to some or even to you,
But it's my way of telling everything's gonna be okay.
