I'm Sorry

I'm Sorry

A Poem by Nelyn Salvaleon

I still remember what I said before.
I was 17 and you were just 14.
I told myself it's impossible for me to fall for you.
You're just too young for me.

I swallowed everything I said before.
It took too long for me to realize I've loved you since February 14, 2014.
Now it's too late for me to say I love you.
Since you're already happy with someone so special to you.

All I want now is your forgiveness.
I'm sorry for still wanting you.
I'm sorry for still dreaming of you.
And I'm so sorry for still loving you.

When you give your heart to someone, expect to have it returned to you battered, bruised, and broken. But people cannot be like me having theirs wrapped in barbed wire, and locked in a cage where it belongs. But it will be safer there than in the arms of people.
