For the girl

For the girl

A Poem by Sam

She is a vision

Of Hell on Earth,

The depths of her soul

Make hades look weak.

Eyes bluer than sky,

Hair straighter than pins,

Body built like the strongest twig.

Like a modern day Daisy Miller,

The girl is bound to die

Not from age, but foolishness,

Leaving a trail of broken hearts

From the city to the cemetery.

She is a girl ablaze

With cool indifference

Trying to put out the fire

Of fear, doubt, and normalcy.

She never understands why

She’s so loved yet so alone

As she sits behind her wall,

An intimidating ten feet

Of impenetrable stone.

She is a lesson

That no one wants to learn,

But I have learned.

I do detect romance within this, but also some potent sadness. It's as if this person is apart of you, yet not. She seems to be somebody who you wish to change to make herself better.
The distance between her and others is strongly described in this stanza:

"She never understands why
She’s so loved yet so alone
As she sits behind her wall,
An intimidating ten feet
Of impenetrable stone."

I have heard of people distancing themselves with a barrier or a wall. Usually, one never hears it described in such detail. Yet, the simple detail you add here really brings reality to the true wall that stands between this girl and everybody else.
Another line that stood out to me:

"Leaving a trail of broken hearts
From the city to the cemetery."

I don't know who Daisy Miller was, but this was just so poignant that I had to mention it. Perhaps it is because one physically can't leave a trial of broken hearts. Or maybe it is because I am curious about how many broken hearts there are. I have no clue, but I still love it.

Bravo! I will be reading more.

Such a beautiful piece! I can sense raw emotion and power in this, with a hint of romance I suspect? Well done :)
