Birds

As the sun rises the beauty awakens

Stretches out her wings and gives a chirp

Stares into the sky, eyes softening at the appearance of her home

Gives her mate a shake as he stirs she begins to sing

The other birds join in the song

She then brushes at her hair and flys into the wind

Spinning and showing off to the people down below

As they point and gasp she gives a playful grin

Dives further until she nearly hits the ground

But as talented as she is, she pulls out just in time

All around her the humans eyes widen

Then a group of her family appear

Their colors glowing and eyes showing an impatient gleam

Never before have they been adored

Just as she is about to perform, they motion to move along

Then all together they fly high

Hoping that just this day they can escape all in sight.

This is wonderful . . . remind me of the opening scene in Bambi. I hope for the birds' sake they did escape together--had one of my relatives been there, they'd have been dropping out of the sky to the tune of a 12 guage
