Willow

Willow

A Poem by Stanley Wilson
"

Willow the alphafemale of the cats

"

Black white and tan tortoiseshell that’s our Willow a slim Maine Coon with a great brush of a tail an old wily fox would be proud of, she even grows herself brilliant white snow boots in the colder months,

Definitely the alpha female of the home quiet, elegant and aloof a real aristocat, you’d have thought she had gone to a home counties finishing school the way she carries herself and slinks around,

Willow has the butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth deportment of a lady but harbours a sinister streak like Hannibal Lecter on acid when she gets a whiff of cat nip,

She looks down her elegant pink nose at you and often snorts from time to time, when she plays she plays rough us humans head for cover along with the other two, she is frighteningly quick and agile and doesn’t retract her razor sharp claws,

Afraid of no animal or any man Willow loves the thunder storms watching lightning with glee she even likes watching fireworks from her vantage point behind the blinds sat atop of the settee,

Just like Tweeties Sylvester Willow has a lisp, she is very difficult to take seriously when cross or telling you off she gives you her hiss. Like a mini lioness she loves and organises her pride always defending the weakest like the force of ten full grown lions Willow will often dismiss you with a flick of her tail before tearing about the home giving it her own touch of feng shui or DIY,

She sleeps on my pillow she has an incredible snore, the tortoiseshell Willow is the Maine Coon that we all adore.

Excellent read and write. Reminds me of the cats I used to care for, they were brothers named Palluna and Pawpaw. Esp. liked,"Willow will often dismiss you with a flick of her tail before tearing about the home giving it her own touch of feng shui or DIY" Too funny, they also had their own sofa used not only for a scratching post but to sculpt.

aww thanks very much glad you liked it
I can feel your affection for your pet. Its a beautiful poem :-) I am very new to this so correct me if I am wrong. But are you clumping sentences together in paras on purpose? I kinda thought it'd make for a nicer read if it goes stepwise but maybe Iam missing the point.

You are welcome,dear friend.
The depth of a loyal dog is great, but when it's in a cat, stand back and slap your mama! wow!

Like this, the typical British humour with the Hannibal Lecter line and our love of cats, good prose poem with lots to like, good work.
