Visitation

Visitation

A Poem by NeilSHowe

SHE FOUND ME A CORNER/
AN EMPATHETIC EAR/
AND CARING TOUCH/
SHE FOUND ME CRYING/
OF CRIMES COMMITTED/
AND 'SINS' SHE CALLED THEM/
CARRIED IN MY EYES/ YES/
A COP WAS HIT BY MY ROCK/
AND DIED OF MY PROTEST/
AND SHE FOUND ME A CORNER/
SAT ME DOWN/
WASHED MY FACE/
SPEAKING SOFTLY/
OF GOD/
IN WHICH I WILL NOT BELIEVE/
BUT SHE HELD ME/AS NO-ONE ELSE DID/
SO IT DOES NOT BOTHER ME/
HER GOD/
SHE WILLINGLY STANDS FOR HER FAITH/
AND WILL ALWAYS HAVE MINE.
