Any Port in a Storm

Any Port in a Storm

A Poem by Steve

Waves grasp the hull

Claws raking and pulling

Clouds overhead

Dark, black, ominous

From the bow

Far in the distance

The lighthouse glimmers

A precious gem

But the sea is hungry

Searching for souls

A crack and a flash

The sky torn asunder

One last wave

Crashes and swallows

One last push

To salt and screams

One last breath

Then darkness and water

One last thought

Of home and family
