Poison

The view of the world through the eyes of a girl changes in one short bus journey.

She sat there in what she felt was the longest bus journey of her life. She'd had bad ones before, but this one was different. She felt numb, indifferent. Like nothing mattered; like everything mattered.

The same noise around her had silenced and her eyes saw a whole new world. Not the one she'd seen her whole life, but a palpable one. It was no longer how she wanted to see it, but how it was. A bittersweet feeling. 

The boy sat next to her was exactly that, just a boy. she felt confused, perplexed at how foolish she was. the only thing she wanted was to feel special, to feel wanted. 

She came to the conclusion that words are nothing but false idols. After being thrown away time and time again she realised that she was good enough. The only thing stopping her was his sharp inviting words digging into her and slowly poisoning her mind.
