"Roots and Wings"

It seems just yesterday,
I cradled you in my arms.
And sanitised my hands before picking you,
To keep away the germs.
I always tiptoed when you were fast asleep,
Oh! it was a sigh of relief.

When you stacked a pile of blocks,
To make your first tower ;
Or knocked down the beautiful vase
With all the flowers.
Soon I'll explain you how bees suck the nectar from the hive,
And time will just fly n you will turn five......
I know your lil feet will take you where you want to go,
Your eyes will see the stars glow,
Your hands would like to feel the sand,
Your brain will soak,solve and understand ,
The birds also let the chicks leave the nest n fly,
And a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.
Oh mom!
It's time to flap my wings n soar the sky;
Don't hesitate to let go even if I cry.
Mom n dad give me two gifts
One is roots;
The other is wings..

i love the poem. it speaks about motherhood and the fear of letting the child whom you protect be ready to explore the world. all mothers can really connect with this poem because i believe being a mother is not only the greatest job in the world but it is more than that. i can speak so because i will not trade being a mother for anything else. kudos to the mothers out there.
