A Chapter by J.R. Bergwick
"

Ah, the missing chapter has been rewritten. Its not exactly the same as the original, but hey, that's how it goes.

"

We pull into a little parking lot by the water, close to the touristy area, once we get to Seattle. We’re gathered around the table in the “kitchen” putting together a plan.

“Taylor. you’ve had the most experience here as far as finding a coven. Do you have any ideas where it would be?” Kara asks

“Somewhere secluded and hidden in the shadows so they can do some business in the day. The one in russia was an old loading station for trucks.” He informs

“Makes sense, but i think we should do some recon first before going and searching blindly. Better to get to know the area too.” Daimian suggests

“But-” I start to oppose

“I realize you want to save Saundra, but it’ll take longer and become more dangerous, to both us and her, if we don't know where we are or which way to go in a hurry.”

I nod glumly, realizing he’s right. “So then what’s the plan? The old fall back plan of ‘Split up and look for clues?’”

“Thats precisely what I was thinking. Richard and Kara will be team one, and the boys and I will be team two. You two will go and check out the fun touristy areas; the fish market, by the water, and all that stuff. I will take Ivan and Taylor to the suburbs and see if there’s anything odd happening there that matches Vampiric activity.” Daimian instructs

“Fair enough.” Richard says, “When do we start?”

“Now.” Daimian chirps happily

Daimian, Taylor, and I are wondering the streets of various neighborhoods. We stop every now and again to ask people about the area;has there been anything weird going on, what's the crime rate like. The story Daimian has come up with for us is that he had just gotten a divorce and is looking for a suitable place to move into with his two boys. It wasn't too far off, Taylor and I were practically his sons. Nothing alarming came up though, no mysterious dissapearences or murders. There were a few break ins here and there but nothing big. After a couple hours of walking and talking we sit on a bench to rest out feet for a little while.

"Well this has been a total bust." Taylor mumbles

"Seems that way." I agree," Maybe Kara and Richard have had better luck."

Daimian nods, "Lets go ahead and work our way back to the RV then."

Kara and Richard had beaten us back to the RV and, from the smell of things, making lunch. We walk into the vehicle to find the two of them arguing.

"Fine then, we can let them deside." Kara turns towards us, "We've prepared lunch, but Richard insists that his food is better."

"Not better," Richard interjects, "just simpler and more appealing than what you've prepared."

"Well what do we have?" Daimian asks hungrily

"I have prepared Salmon on a bed of Kus-Kus, type of pasta from my country, with a side of steamed broccoli." Kara says proudly

We all turn to look at Richard, who blushes embaressed.

"I made macaroni and cheese with hotdogs."

"I'm going to have to side with the Salmon on this one. Sorry Richard." Taylor says.

Daimian nods in agreement

I take simpithize on Richard and take some of his Macoroni, causing his face to light up instantaneously.

We discuss our findings over lunch.

"The neighborhoods are clear, we didn't find anything suspicious in that area. What about your end?” Daimian reports

Richard chuckles, “Oh yea. That place reaks of activity, just not Vampiric. We found signs of something worse. There was strong signs of, in your terms a Biological Vampiric Entity.”

“In other words we’ve got a Vampire on our hands, a real one. There are no indications if this Vampire is working with the Vampirics or not. From the looks of the amount of blood it is badly wounded. have traveled far.”

"So we're looking at a classic battle of Dracula versus the Wolfman huh?" Taylor grins

Daimian shoots a look at Taylor.

“Then what the hell are we waiting for? Let’s get out there and find it!” I shout

"In due time. The sun is high, so it'll not be going anywhere any time soon. Lets finish our meal and put together an good plan, instead of running around the city like headless chickens." Daimian says thoughtfully

"Fine." I huff and shovel my mouth full of Macoroni

We're back to searching. Daimian went with Richard and Kara to look at the blood, where they'd split up and search around the most likely areas. Taylor and I were paired together and sent to check out some of the other touristy areas. From the Vampire's point of view this was a fairly good hunting ground. So long you didn't kill them the tourist wouldn't really ever raise suspicion, and for the nights you really need to fill your gut there are plenty of homeless to pick from. The police would investigate those for a couple days then mark it off as gang activity or something.

We had made our rounds at the SyFy museum and a couple other spots that seemed interesting. The last place we could think of is the Space Needle. I've always been curious asto what it'd be like to eat there, but my tolerance for fancy dress up stuff has always been nonexistent. I'm far more comfortable in my leather and weapons. We deside it'd be quicker to split up and each take one side of the needle and meet up in the back.

I walk the path to the right, focusing on sniffing as much as I can but I've never smelled the blood of a Vampire before so I'm entirely sure what the scente is that I'm looking for is. I take a couple steps, sniff and observe the area and repeat the process. It's not the smell that tips me off, it's not a large trail but a blood trail all the same. I call Taylor over and show him.

"You think it's Vampiric?" I ask, pointing to the narrow trickle of blood

"Well it's defiantly not human, and it doesn't smell like ours either. I'd say it's worth checking out." He says

The blood becomes less evident as the trail progresses, it was healing as the creature fled. The blood lead into an alley across the street, then ends abruptly. The alley is dark, but there's defiantly something living in the shadows.

"You there," I call out,"come out where we can see you. I'd like to ask you a couple questions."

"Damn it I've told you no. That's what I told you last time and that's my answer this time. If your leader wants me to join your little group let her come see me herself." He replies

"I'm sorry? I've no idea what you're talking about. I take it that you're the Vampire residing in this area." I reply

He steps forward and sniffs, "You're not vampiric, you're wolves." He observes "What do you want?" He asks on guard

"We're looking for someone that was taken by the Vampirics and figured that you'd be in league with them." Taylor informs

"With those pathetic impostors? Don't make me laugh. They've been trying to recruit me for weeks. They made it clear from the last meeting that it's join or die. No, I can't help you. I'm sure if you hang out for a while they'll show up though." He scoffs

"Might as well." I say to Taylor, "Stay on guard though, I don't know if we can trust this guy."

"I assure you, I won't make any agreesivemmoves unprovoked." The Vampire says

I clear my throat, "I appologize. I didn't mean to offend you."

"Don't worry about it, I'm used to it. The name's Wyatt." He introduces

"I'm Ivan, and this is my friend Taylor. We're Lycanthropes from Whidbey Island." I return the favor

"More fakes huh? Better than a real wolf I suppose. Please, take a seat. It's been too long since I've had decent company." Wyatt invites

Hesitantly Taylor and I approach and take a seat by Wyatt, who has withdrawn back into the shadows.

A car pulls up outside of the alley and a couple of people get out and wander down towards us.

"Well that was sooner than expected." Wyatt remarks dryly

"Wyatt, have you reconsidered our offer?" One of the men calls and stops dead, "What are those doing here? You've allied yourself with the Lycanthropes. You'll die for that old man." The vampiric and his partner unsheath their weapons

"How annoying." I say and throw a shurikan. The metal star flies through the air and finds a home in the Vampiric's head.

The other attack stops, "You dishonorable cur! I kill you for that."

"You think so? I suggest you answer my questions before I lose the last of my patience." I snap

The Vampiric snears and charges as me, dagger poised to strike.

In a single motion I duck under the blade, draw a tanfa blade and sever the tendons behind his knee.

The Vampiric falls on his face, unable to move his legs any longer, and cries out.

I step on his back and press the tip on my blade against the back of his neck. "Where are the humans you brought in from Whidbey Island?"

"Get stuffed you damned mongrel." The vampiric spits

“Have it your way then.” I sigh irritated and plunge the blade through the Vampiric’s neck and spin the blade full circle, decapitating him.

"The hell you go and do that for?" Taylor cries, "How are we supposed to find the Seattle Coven now? Let alone get inside it?"

“We wait. Scouts like that are supposed to report back to  their post master whenever they get back to HQ. It lets them keep track on who all is in and out of the Coven. Don't worry; I’ve got a plan. I’ll need your help though, Wyatt. It’ll get the Vampirics to leave you alone. What do you say?” I propose.

“What’d you have in mind?” Wyatt asks.

“You’ve got to ‘kill’ me. They second party is going to come soon enough to check up on things, but first we need to figure a way to make me appear dead. Any ideas?”

“Amazingly enough, yes. Wait here.” Wyatt goes back behind a dumpster, I assume to be his house. He returns with a vial of clear fluid, grinning. “This is what's known as Aqua Muertos; it’s a concoction that dates back to Latin times. With this your heart beat will slow enough that no one will ever be eable to tell, however there is a minor side effect.”

“Which would be?” I ask hesitently.

“A minor case of paralasys.” Wyatt says nonchalantly

“Oh, lovely. Whatever it takes to save Saundra. Lemme see that vial, i suspect they’ll be here soon.”

Wyatt chuckles, “You don’t intend to drink it do you? That WILL kill you. No, you administer it via needle.”

I groan. “Aren’t there any other methods? I really really reeaaallly don't like needles.”

“Oh suck it up you big baby. I was a docter for a good number of years, I know what I'm doing. You won’t even feel a thing...probably.” Wyatt teases, drawing the death water into a syringe that seemed to come out of nowhere.

“Ivan, once this happens, I’ll be right be hind you. I know Wyatts scent so I’ll meet up with you once you’re outside of the Coven. Shoot me a text if you need-”
A pain stabs my arm. “Ow!”

Wyatt had jabbed the needle into my arm and has begun to pump the Aqua Muertos into me.

“Taylor, you son of a-” My speech slurs and I’m no longer able to move my lips

Another vehicle pulls up by the alley entrence and more Vampirics hop out of the car. They immediatly set to questioning Wyatt as to what to happened.

“A couple of Lycanthropes jumped out of nowhere and killed these two. I was able to decommistion one of them, but the other got away. I’ve desided to join you afterall. Seeing them in action is too much to ignore.”

“Great. Its unfortunate to hear what happened, but at least you were able to avenge our fallen comrades. Get the bodies into the car.” One of the Vampirics orders.
