Parting with Childhood.

Parting with Childhood.

A Poem by The Lovely Sound Of Crashing
"

I don't know...

"
It's time to part,
Don't treat this like a broken heart-
We said it would be mutual,
Make it more like a restart.
It's not an ending but a beginning,
A starting of a legend,
Toward the sunshine around the bend.
Loose ends can mend,
And I commend you for making it this far,
But you had your run,
Let me play the all-star.
You showed em what you could do,
With a little paper and some glue,
Pencils and oil pastels,
You were an artistic dude!
Now let me be your wings and show em you
Can make it hotter than the flu.
This is not a broken bond,
More like a link to carry on,
Tougher than the chains of Spawn.
Never will you be gone,
Your etched into my memory,
Like an etch-a-sketch pic,
No one's shaking you from me.
A part of me you'll always be,
My childhood,
My life, dreams, and memories.
But it's off to the adult world,
Don't you start hating me...
I'll remember you've wanted to be happy before you even had teeth,
And now that you're letting the adult take over,
Understand that I'ma be spoiled with your favorite candy and soda.
Time to start working,
I'll go receive your dreams,
My inner child-
Stay innocent while I find our peace.
