Provide Evidence, Create Belief! (Age 17)

Provide Evidence, Create Belief! (Age 17)

A Poem by Andy Hackett
"

Views on religion.

"

In graveyards and cathedral halls,
In our hallowed houses it is found,
Can hear it whisper behind the walls,
Can still hear when you go (it calls),
But not ears untuned to the sound,
Only those who seek it like the hound,
Does the forgotten noise in ear abound.

What little care it is to me or I,
Or others trained to blot out faith,
Such little care to me! (It dies!)
I'm sure I'm truly free! (What lies!)
Can you, in this disgraced "evil" state,
Cast out a boat before it's too late,
Purge our loss, maybe some belief create?

In misbegotten teachings old, pastimes new,
From the fabled line we were misled,
Between the two our path became untrue,
Is this but one of their lies too?
I was told as a child that "he" said,
"My son will spread the message in my stead",
But what of that message now he's dead?

Our world has suffered a famine of belief,
Giving birth to scourge, destruction, death,
And if we hope to ever find relief,
From common plagues like common thief,
Then we must hope and pray we get
A message from some Higher power set,
So we may live without regret.
