Lost In A Storm (17)

Lost In A Storm (17)

A Poem by Andy Hackett
"

This was about a dream I had about a girl I liked.

"

As destined thunder shakes my bed,
A blurry play runs in my head,
A hurried tale pent full of lead,
As obscene as hopes I've been fed.

As worry comes and all hope goes,
A slow build-up of all my woes,
A frenzied storm quickens and slows,
As raindrops creep down dark windows.

As in this grey world I remain,
A song is sung riddled with pain,
A piece of sorrowful refrain,
As sadness soaks its gentle stain.

As a young man of just seventeen,
A human, no mechanical machine,
A duality I feel I'm stuck between,
As I wonder what all this means.

As sudden as that, I notice you,
A pair of bright eyes masked in blue,
A crown of dark hair I'm drawn to,
As black as the depression I once knew.

As almost happy, but then it seems
A petty ruse, a cruel scheme,
A swift anger nearly makes me scream,
As I realise it was but a dream.
