My Last Good Bye (12)

My Last Good Bye (12)

A Poem by Andy Hackett
"

I think this had something to do with the Jeff Buckley song "Last Goodbye", but I'm not sure because it was so long ago and I can't remember.

"

"My Last Good Bye"

When I am old and bald, in my fifties,
I'll still think of you in your glory,
But I knew it would never happen, you were above me,
It was pathetic even dreaming, a common love story.

And I'll still think of you,
And I'll still cry,
And I'll still think of us,
And never want to say good bye.

It hurts just thinking you'll never love me as I love you,
It'll still make me die inside that it could never be,
And it'll still be the same, I'll still be a ghost to you,
And I'll still dream, a dream that can never be, just you and me.

And I'll still think of you,
And I'll still cry,
And I'll still think of us,
And never want to say good bye.

With my unfulfilled hope of love feeling like a frozen wind, my heart grew cold,
If you had just noticed me, it could have spared me my shame,
With my unfulfilled hope of love, I was left in my despair,
And then I was a man long dead, but you weren't to know, you weren't to blame.

And I'll still think of you,
Good bye,
And I'll still think of us,
And die.
