Mist

Mist

A Poem by Nea

Come warm me up
as I'm breathing out the cold again
Come dream with me
of white Athens

You've claimed my mind your home
and I can still smell you in my sheets
Even though you've never been there
and if, then merely as a ghost

Now without deciding to
I'm walking that extra mile for you
And I see you're doing the same
We're both lost but just can't surrender

The poetry of your name slips from my lips
like a slide of a hand over piano keys
And you're appearing in the mist
that is my cold breath

And I can never look you in the eyes
because I'm scared of the darkness
scared of never finding my way back
of walking right into the fire

Come warm me up
as I'm breathing out the cold again
Come dream with me
of white Athens

Excellent poem. I particularly like the classic overtones.

Expressions of wanting, poetically encapsulated within the flow of your text - a great emotional write! I could see the outline of your heart's desire shaped within the out breathing of the exhaled mist! :-)
