Brielle- Part IA Chapter by Navica AdkinsBrielle Sure, I've known Sav and Hailey since preschool. That doesn't mean we are joined at the hip. I lived in this town before they were even born. Well actually, I am the oldest by a month so it is totally valid, in my opinion. I suppose we are best friends but that word is seriously overrated. To be best friends with someone is to shut all other friends out of your life but that one. Best friends never argue, and lead their picture-perfect lives. Not us, we might be good friends but we have had are fair share of fights and arguments. Plus we all have our separate friends. Sure we may run with the same crowd but that doesn't mean we are always together. So maybe I seem a bit conceded but it's not meant to be that way. Well most of the time at least. I really do love Sav and Hailey but sometimes I just need time to breathe. Sav and I have always been close but it didn't start out that way with Hailey. When we were little we would argue over the smallest things like who gets to play Barbie and Ken. Silly but it always bugged me how she thought she was everyone's favorite. Nowadays, we all get along pretty well but trust me we are far from perfect. Take tonight for example. I try to have a nice time at Melissa Porter's pool party away from Sav and Hailey but they still insist on calling me nonstop. We may share most things but drama isn't something I want to hear 24/7. My temper was flaring and I couldn't help but want to hit something. The anger and annoyance inside me built. Then the weirdest thing happened. My phone suddenly exploded and the table engulfed itself in flames. Mellisa screamed as her brother put out the flames with a nearby fire extinguisher. I flew backwards and tripped into the pool. Quickly I jumped out, grabbed my things and snuck out the gate before anyone could blame me. Great, now I was phoneless. Except there hadn't been a candle anywhere near the table and my phone was barely a year old. Something weird had happened and I felt like I might've been the cause. I needed to get home and figure out what had happened. Because things like that don't happen to Brielle Denton. I was supposed to be lucky, have things like this never happen to me. I thought it was just a freak incident, but that theory only lasted until I got home. I ran upstairs and went face-first into my bed. I was still cold and wet from leaving the pool, and my bed wasn't helping matters. But all of a sudden, my bed froze over, like I was sitting on an ice cube. I quickly ran to the bathroom to find my hair dryer, and went to go use it to defrost my bed. I had to sit there for an hour, while I was still in my bikini, and wait for my bed to dry. But as I stared at the puddle of water on the floor, it seemed to evaporate. Like nothing had even happened. I went downstairs to use the house phone. I had to call somebody, because this wasn't what normal teenage girls did. It was definitely a freak incident, and I was the freak. © 2012 Navica Adkins |
