Savannah- Part I

Savannah- Part I

A Chapter by Navica Adkins

Savannah

I was the first to discover my powers. It happened on a shopping trip with Hailey and Brielle, my best friends, and I was trying to buy this scarf.  It was very pretty, with silver, black, and red patterns.  But as I got to check-out, I ran into a problem.

"Ma'am, you don't have enough money to buy this."  The cashier said, holding it up in front of me.

"Yes, I do.  It was on the clearance table."  I would do anything to get this scarf.  It went perfectly with a bunch of outfits, and featured my favorite colors.

"The sticker isn't on there.  I'm sorry."

All of a sudden, I began to concentrate like crazy.  I imagined the clearance sticker on the scarf, giving me 80% off and enough money so I could buy lunch. Suddenly, my head began to pound, and my eyes hurt.  I wondered what was going on.

"Oh wait, here it is!  I'm sorry dear, I don't know how I could have missed that.  $10.32, please."

I handed over the money in shock.  I wasn't sure how that even happened.  I walked out of the story bewildered, as Hailey and Brielle gossiped about the deals they were able to snag.  I clutched the bag holding my scarf in my hands, as if it would be yanked away.  I didn't understand what had happened, but I was certainly pleased it did.

"Sav,  are you happy with your scarf?" Brielle  asked.  She was one of the more preppy people at my school, and seemed to walk with a purpose.  Meanwhile, she always told me I didn't have enough confidence and I straggled among the rest, a simple mortal as opposed to the immortal beauty queens of the world.

"Yeah, it's pretty!  But did you see that sticker come out of nowhere?"  I certainly did, but I wasn't going to explain what happened just yet.

"Yeah, but I think it was hidden.  Stickers don't magically materialize!"  Hailey and Brielle laughed.  I laughed along with them, and wondered if I should tell them about what happened.  They'd probably think I was crazy, so I decided to keep it a secret for now. Not telling them though was almost like lying in my book. To be honest, this wasn't the first time something strange had happened to me. Two years ago, I had gashed my foot with a razor that my sister has left on the shower floor. I screamed in pain but when I looked down it was as if I had magically healed myself. Over the years, I have always felt a bit off but others don't seem to take notice. I've always been apart of the in crowd but mainly on the outskirts. Sometimes I feel like a freak of nature but the whole price tag fiasco was beyond strange. It was almost like I had willed or rather manipulated the sticker appear at my own will. Except things like that don't happen. I'm just paranoid and need to shake it off. Plus getting a cute scarf on sale is nothing to complain about no matter how you think it happened.
