Prologue

A Chapter by Navica Adkins

Once upon a time, there were three young witches who were bonded by the power of friendship. Nevena belonged to the De Fleur coven and had the trademark head of curls and the ability to manipulate others into doing what she wanted. She was the outspoken, bossy leader of the three and was known for causing mischief among the others. Harlow Ravenlee was quite the opposite and was known for her gift of making exquisite potions and casting the most cryptic spells. She was the quiet, well mannered of the three and was the favorite among the many townspeople in their kingdom, known as Hollingsworth. Then, there was the beautiful Evangeline Lux who was known for her short stature and long blonde hair. She was the most powerful of the three but hid her powers of healing because, unknown to many, she was a cowardice among them. All three lived with their neighboring and amicable covens under the rule of the Hollingsworth kingdom ruled by the evil Queen Merida and her three sons, Herrick, Lamont and Davenport. King Yurin had been the more kindly natured ruler, but he had been lethally poisoned  by his wife, who laced his food with a deadly potion her son Lamont had stolen so that she would rule as one.  His death brought about a destruction of the uniformity and peace of the kingdom and the covens came together to bring the new rule crumbling down. The young girls begged to help but they were instead locked in their sleeping chambers free from the danger of the war that was to erupt.   Despite their pleas to let them help their kingdom, they had no choice but to stay where they were, with no outside contact or way to escape.  Nobody could save them, and nobody even knew where they were.  All they could do was wait for the evil heads of their covens to let them out. Instead not even they came to save them from the helplessness they were drowning in. Suddenly, the doors of their chambers burst open as Harlow had figured out a spell to release them from the prison they were trapped in. The three girls grabbed hands and ran to the small wagon that they would travel to the kingdom in which was a short ways away. They could see the riot playing out and quickly ran to the entry of the castle. Evangeline couldn't help but feel nervousness deep down in the pit of her stomach. Nevena manipulated the guard into letting them in as  Evangeline warned them about the darkness and curses that were to be placed on the kingdom. This was no place for little girls, regardless of their powers. A large hand swept them up from behind and before a spell could escape their mouths, the world blackened. However, Harlow managed to escape the grasps before the day of light banished and without detection she slipped away to find help. It was then that she realized the power within was all the help that she needed. She transported herself to where Nevena and Evangeline were being held and quickly used her magic to vanquish the guard who had seized them and bring the girls back to light. They ran to find somewhere they could assist in bringing down the queen. Instead what happened was to change their course of events for all eternity. The little girls had not known that a curse was to be laid on the queen's sons which was the most vulnerable thing to a mother no matter how evil. It would cause a hatred and jealousy to brew between the three brothers which would destroy all around them and end in one brother being victorious and the other two dead. It would cause the victims to age and start a huge war but little did they know that the curse had been tainted. Things would not play out as planned.  The coven leaders had placed a spell on the sons that trapped them and as the curse was being instilled, the girls ran into the forcefield but it was too late. The castle lit up like a candle as it exploded and all the people in the vicinity were  thrown every which way. The curse made it's ways to the three girls rather than the sons.  Suddenly the little girls were thrust forward to their deayhs. Suddenly their restless souls escaped their tiny bodies with the curse lingering with them. They fled seeking a new host to fulfill the prophecy.Although  things didn't work out as planned  the curse was instilled to happen. To whom it was now unknown. Sooner or later, one witch would win and rule. For eternity and beyond.

I love the names you came up with, they are very unique. :) The descriptions are nice and create a beautiful mental picture. I only have one suggestion, maybe you could try spacing it out a little more, like seperating your work into paragraphs, it might make it easier to read. Can't wait to see where the story goes. :)
