An Ode To You

An Ode To You

A Poem by Naval Tharun
"

An Ode To You

"

 Cynical. Jaded. Weary.

I remain all that and you will too,

when stabbed by home in the same wound.

I know you. I understand you.

You stab in the back for your safety.

You stab in the back for your gain.

You stab in the back for your pleasure.

You stab because thats what humans do.

No more.

Next time you come to me with shining blades,

I won’t cower.

I will stand tall,

as you pierce my wounds.....as I bleed.

The stupidity of a childish hope held me back long enough

These wounds make me what I am and

live I will in spite of them,

as I look you in the eye.

I smile, I say

F**k You!

The first thing that caught my eye here was the image. I had not even taken a glance at the words yet because i always make it a habit to scroll down and see how long the material is. I was immediatly struck both by the last verse as i reached the bottom as well a disturbing image that instantly made me curious as to what it was and WHY it had been chosen as well as the last lines that however at the top of my page.
"I smile, I say
F**k You!"
It was so...POWERFULLY gripping. It made me go up to the top and say...alright.. now i want to know. Very powerful, well written.
