Game of Life

Here I am
With pen in hand
I stopped awhile
But I'm back again

How time quickly passes us by
Not stopping a moment to say hi

The artist of age draws on our skin
Though we try to stop it-we cannot win

Looking back, "I would have" we oft think
But yesterdays are gone blink blink

The paths of tomorrow are paved today
Make choices for change without delay

Life is like a game of chess
Each careful move being the best

Good morning Levi,
Interesting thoughts of yours to read first thing, early this morning... Basically life is a game... moving forward until the end and hoping our choices are good ones.
I am an adventurous type so my life has always been seeing each day as special...Can not change the past, so we all hope we made the right choices along the way... However, as I write this review for you I realise that memories are still with us ..no matter what..and, some of those memories might not be so great... But we can not just sit in a box and do nothing with our lives..for fear that we might not do the right thing... Oh gosh, I am babbling on... but that is good because it means that your poem made me ponder and that is always good....

I read Gary Kasparov's interesting book, "How Life Imitates Chess" and your poem brought it to mind just now. Life is like a game of chess in some ways, and whether life really does imitate chess (or the other way round) hardly matters. We cannot find the best move every time in either chess or life. Even Grandmasters make mistakes. All we can do is try our best, and hope we do not make too many mistakes on life's chessboard. An interesting poem!

Aging is no fun, and that goes for us poets too! Can't look back, as they say hindsight is 20/20; but we can look ahead and we should with careful steps, as we don't want to spoil what we have left to enjoy. A very well written piece on life's choices, try to make the best one!

yep .. its all about choices .. and actions taken on those choices .. or not ... but time is our illusion isn't it ;) we seem so much more comfortable with our little calendars neatly linear ... feeling secure that oh... next week I have to do this or that etc. which brings us to the Great Adventure of surprises .. in our eternal shared "now" ..peace and joy Levi! peace and joy!
