His name was Anxiety

His name was Anxiety

A Poem by Natassha
"

This is who he is.

"
Anxiety is like a shadow.
ominous and hushed.
But even on the brightest of days,
it crawls from up behind you.
And when you stare at it in the face
it just stares back.
Mocking you.
You try your best to run away and escape,
but he follows you everywhere you go.

And that's the problem.
He never goes away.
And even when you can't see him.
He lives within you.
Always there.

I hope those of you who suffer with anxiety or know someone who does can understand that it is not easy living with this on a daily basis. But you are not alone!!! I hope you know you are loved and someone gets it. Every single thing you feel. Someone out there understands. Dont let anxiety define you.

I really needed to read something like this right now because suffering with a panic disorder sucks and sometimes, I feel like no one can relate. I thought your poem was well thought-out and beautifully written. It also rings very true about anxiety, it's like a constant creature always with us ready to strike at any time. Great job! Thanks for this!

Would you read some of my poetry if you have the time?

You're not the only one. Sometimes, the only way I can express something is by writing about it.

the truth is, it's a very 'anxious' kind of world, so 'anxiety' is a natural response...if the world isn't going to change, our options are pretty limited; we can either diminish ourselves with medication, or we can search for our strength within ourselves...it's a long search...those who find their strength, they are the ones who get to live a real life...
