Mask Among FacesA Poem by Sera J. LeeMasks that hide your true self from others. How we need to get rid of them.I hide behind masks. My joy is false. My hate is true. My love is a lie. Mask after make, I’m hiding behind. My face is nothing. Just a mask to hide. I rip the mask off. Another takes it’s place. I am fake. Where is the real me? I smile when happy. I cry when sad. I shout when angry. I blush when loved. All just hiding the fact, My face is a mask. One that could never be removed, No matter how hard I try. When the last mask falls, I will be blank. I will start anew. Who am I now? I am a mask among faces, But when my mask is gone, I’ll be a face among masks. I’ll show my true self.
