Chapter 3: Home

A Chapter by Sera J. Lee

Phoenix placed her hand on the doorknob and turned it, giving a deep sigh. The lights were off within the house and it was rather dark. She walked in and shut the door, flipping on a switch. The lights came on, revealing a rather empty house.

"I'm home..." she muttered, but she knew no one would answer.

Phoenix took off her lab coat and hung it in the closet. She then shut the closet and went to the kitchen. There she fixed herself a cup of tea. She had never been a fan of coffee; she rather found it bitter. Of course her brother loved coffee, but she could not see how he could drink the stuff.

Phoenix took the warm cup in her hands, making the numbness in her fingers vanish. She then walked out of the kitchen and went to sit on the couch. She quickly kicked up her feet, her chains jingling again, and she gave a sigh.

"It's rather quite tonight..." she muttered. She heard a small meow and looked down to the floor. "Isn't it, Luna?" Phoenix smiled at the small cat that jumped up onto the chair. Phoenix had called her that name because she was pure silver reminding Phoenix of the moon.

Phoenix petted the cat's soft fur. She always felt calm when petting Luna-she's never felt so calm anywhere else.

Luna began purring and rubbed her head against Phoenix's outstretched hand. Phoenix gave another soft small. "Looks like it's just me and you for now..." Phoenix muttered.
