Passion

Passion

A Poem by Keturah Ipaliwan

The melody of your song

A husky, deep, sensual tone

The heat of your passion

A fiery furnace

Uncontrollable yet tamed

Unbelievable yet real

How can a man caress you with his words?

How can his voice put you to sleep?

Such strange magic

Such powerful effects

Creamy, burnt umber, chiselled and refined

It’s almost a sin to look

Piercing, hazel windows searching and studying

In my mind stripping me, layer by layer

I know I can’t, I know it’s wrong

But I want your everything, I want it now

I want your lips, I want your skin

I want to feel your hair, under my chin

I want to feel your heart beat against my chest

I want to feel your breath upon my neck

I want your hands clasped to mine

I want us to intertwine

As beautiful as your physique is your mind

But jumbled in puzzles I can’t understand

Will you take my heart or just my hand?

Will you take a chance or just a one night stand?

Is it my love you want or my body?

Is it my personality or my chastity?

Is it my essence and soul or just my entity?

Would you play me for a fool?

Or will you give me your heart and play by the rules?

Don’t blame me for mistrusting

But I have to make sure

Cause with such fiery passion,

You’re bound to break my heart for sure
