Wars of the MindA Poem by JamesTleBournAbout how I find it hard to think straight about things when one have of my brain (logical side) is always arguing with the other (emotional side)Wars of the Mind As the wounded cerebrum unfolds And the aperture reveals the savage war For the hemispheres are no subject to globes Release from the other beyond the chasm Across the Great Chasm war parties Begin ravaging campaigns against the other The battlefield of synapses hoist the flags Over the casualties in this mental warfare On one flags is embroidered “Logic” Its combatant - “Emotion” - counters Logic’s brilliant faint with an ambush Such battles never cease in time’s agonizing tick Swords of facts spark against the weapons Forged from a fire fed by wooden feelings Arrows tipped with the jagged edge of senses Collide to counter the shield wall of passion Peace talks cannot resume within the rage That festers like bugs under a rock Discussed alliances from years prior Disprove possibilities of the Brain Treaty No peace No solution Just a war Why?© 2020 JamesTleBournAuthor's Note
