The Cliff in ShadowA Poem by JamesTleBournA little mythological fantasy poem and experiment. I usually don't write poems like this- tell me what you think: "On the Cliff of Morandon pridefully stood the Castle of Morr..."The Cliff in Shadow On the Cliff of Morandon pridefully stood the Castle of Morr Its righteous rule over its subjects ordered by the king was good Overlooking the plains and dark ocean which bordered the shore Only an ignored factor of position did not strike his lordship as it should The Shadow of the Night set from the stars clouded the Cliff of Morandon Altered the hearts of men and played the chords of evil upon their soul Silently uprooting the kingdom from the tree of good into where there are none For it was smoldering in the peaceful castle down to and through the coal As the ages sailed by in the stocky boat of life, the cliff in shadow fell Its righteous rule diminishing as each king passed his crown to the next Now there was no man, woman, or child the ruler’s death wouldn’t tell All creatures on the Cliff of Morandon were now inevitably vexed The stars who let the Shadow of the Night fall held a council of this evil Revolution sprouted among them and lit up the sky in heavenly battle The smallest of two groups trying to undo the shadow if be their will The War of the Lights enforced the killing of men like sick, wounded cattle As the astronomical scrimmage took place, time slowly marching onward Men took no heed to the constellation’s war front and went on in Shadow Unknown to them, the kings were given a host by the heavens to him guard An assortment of good, earth-bound warriors to surround the king in follow Wars draw to a close when the balls of fire filling the sky hold peace Treaties are presented in the arena above the minds of men Will the blood, the battles, the beings of star-like bodies ever cease? If men are to be released of their own prison, the council will be again And so was the Cliff in Shadow. © 2020 JamesTleBournAuthor's Note
