How do I do “goodbye?”

I’ve said it so much

Yet I haven’t changed

Have I been doing it wrong

All this time has no one

Told me the proper

Way to do “goodbye”

I don’t feel like its real

For how could I possibly part

From you when I can’t

Imagine what it’s like for

Me not to see you again

Once goodbye is said

So how can I truly

How can I really do “goodbye?”

i am a veteran of "goodbye"---too many times, too many years of it...
and yet i still stumble through it like a rookie.
this is a very real poem...about something none of us ever gets used to.

I am fairly new to this world of sorrowful goodbyes. It is hard to know it never gets easier. I wrote this is an attempt to teach myself how to contemplate it... but I never was able to. I sincerely thank you for your review.
