Drumming on a DrumA Poem by JamesTleBournMe and her - we used to be so easy / At times it was so much so it was cheesy / We would sit together but contentedly / I would drum on myself, beats on my kneeDrumming on a Drum Me and her - we used to be so easy At times it was so much so it was cheesy We would sit together but contentedly I would drum on myself, beats on my knee Me and her - she’d turn to me and sigh Grab my hands to prevent more taps on my thigh She’d shake her head but clasp my hand I squeezed and she squeezed back: “I understand” Me and her - something changed for us I don’t know when or how it happened thus We grew apart, it happened so silently I thought breakups happened violently Me and her - for the other we aren’t coming Now, no one tells me to stop drumming The game is up, the appeal of it is gone So now I’m stuck, drumming on a drum © 2020 JamesTleBournReviews
