"That Dreaded Word"

"That Dreaded Word"

A Poem by JamesTleBourn

As the Summer turns to Winter, Time does / From Day to Night will move on and clocks turn / I hate the Sun, for it tells me what was

"

As the Summer turns to Winter, Time does

From Day to Night will move on and clocks turn

I hate the Sun, for it tells me what was

When I had to leave you: loose lost concern

Everyone says the sad, thoughtless remark

“Goodbye” this, and “Goodbye” that, but for me

When I say goodbye I am falling dark

In one word I can’t convey what I see

I want to express all my heart, but no

The grief of departure will override

My sense of final’ty and how to show

That I never wanted to leave your side

But here I am, so explain to me why

I am saying that dreaded word: goodbye
