The Ghost of the Dahlia
A Poem by Nathan1289
A killer who craves the spotlight, finds that guilt is attention he can't cope with.
I am the victim, and the afterlife celebrity You took my life, and created a new one I cannot live it, and the choices aren’t mine They call me “The Dahlia”, a loss in her prime.
The cameras they flash, as you enter the court You’re a living nightmare, infamous by name That’s what you wanted, the attention and fear My spirit sits by the jury, whilst shedding a tear.
I have no power, just a longing for justice My soul is trapped, until guilty you’re found You’ve forgotten about me, collateral damage in your plan Yet the whisper of “The Dahlia” and shivers they ran.
For you have a disease, you didn’t plan on receiving The illness of guilt, it was aging you fast The night before the verdict and the cameras were flashing You took your life early, and my shackles went crashing…….
