The Wings of IcarusA Poem by Nathan ThompsonTo those that fail before they try because they haven't the courage to go for their dreams, please read this.I woke up once in clear morning night, From the land of dreams with dry crust eyes, And from my window saw the rise Of future times with the strong sun light. Dismay filled my sad old heart for when I thought of life’s opulent swan songs, Sung too late, held back from the one that longs To hear their voice, over the quiet glen. But Icarus wings are not for all. The road to dreams, paved with melted wings, Is a road with risks for all it brings. But not to fly when you fear a fall Is a waste of your strong full feathers. So fly you people who dare to dream Of the suns kiss upon you naked brow, And show the world you’ll win, you’ll grow. © 2011 Nathan ThompsonAuthor's Note
